- “The sparks of black do not choose who to bless.”
- Overview
- The term “Black Flash” is primarily used to refer to two separate mechanics: flickering Cursed Energy when an attack lands, and a “True Black Flash”. While the first is a vital base combat mechanic, the latter is a rare event based almost entirely on chance.
- Black Flash
- When attacking, players are able to flicker their Cursed Energy by pressing E as the attack lands. This will double the stun of M1 and M2 attacks, as well as most skills, allowing for longer follow-up combos. There is a short cooldown on this to prevent infinitely stunning an opponent, but proper usage along with other high-stun attacks such as sprinting attacks and charged M1s can create long and versatile combo strings.
- A Black Flash is indicated by a large spark on the opponent, and the cooldown period is represented by the Cursed Energy flaring off of the user for the next few seconds. Black Flashing an M2 attack will also reduce the knockback, allowing for an easier follow-up.

Black Flash
When attacking, players are able to flicker their Cursed Energy by pressing E as the attack lands.
A Black Flash is indicated by a large spark on the opponent, and the cooldown period is represented by the Cursed Energy flaring off of the user for the next few seconds. Black Flashing an M2 attack will also reduce the knockback, allowing for an easier follow-up.
True Black Flash
Rarely, a properly timed Black Flash will result in a True Black Flash, showering both the user and opponent in sparks and playing a theme song based on the user’s Cursed Technique. This deals incredible damage to the opponent, heals the user by a decent amount, and restores some of the user’s burnt out Technique Bar.
A True Black Flash can easily turn the tides of a fight or end it completely, and is one of the most powerful abilities at a player’s disposal. The odds of triggering a True Black Flash can be slightly increased by increasing Awareness, although the amount isn’t anything significant.
